"Oh, I'm sorry, are you looking for this, Rain?" asked Jay, raising the Chronivac to the side of his face and grinning like a madman.
"Yes, I...just, can I have it, please?" Rain asked, trying to not sound desperate.
"Well, you can have it in a minute. I don't think it'd be fair for me to give it to you before I got a go, do you?" asked Jay.
Rain was trying to gauge him, but found it virtually impossible. She did not know if he knew what it was, or if he knew she had originally been Sean, or if he was just messing around, or if this was all some kind of bizarre game to him. She didn't know what to say.
"It's not really a toy," she decideded to mumble.
"I never thought it was," said Jay.
Rain then decides to panic. Her external body still calmly looks at Jay from the sofa, but inside her mind she is crying out for something to happen. She glares at him.
"Ok. Take your turn, so I can have it back," she said.
She knew in her heart of hearts it was her only option, but that didn't mean she was happy about it. His eyes lit up, as if permission was all he was really seeking, and he seemed to masterfully tweak the controls as if he had been using it his whole life.
Rain sighed and held her breath.
