With her blonde locks now trailing along the ground behind her, Jenn hurried to her locker to find some scissors. While she fiddled with the combination lock, it pooled at her feet, slowly building up into a pile as she rifled through her untidy locker’s contents. Finally she found some scissors. She grasped her now beyond long ponytail at about where it would reach her shoulders and, holding both sides of where she intended to cut carefully, she snipped the whole lot off.
She just managed to hold the six foot stream of hair together as her scalp tingled fiercely. Every hair split in half from the root to the tip and each half grew its own new follicle and thickened back to normal. Just as Kyle had said, her hair had doubled in thickness when she cut it. At that point, the elastic holding her ponytail in place snapped with the pressure of the new volume of hair it was trying to hold. Her locks fell about her face and shoulders, already inches longer than when she had cut them. Exasperated, she picked up the fallen elastic, now useless for its usual purpose and tied it around the six foot mass she had just cut off. Running the silky stream through her fingers, she was startled by a soft feeling as her growing hair tickled her back below her cheerleading top.
“Oh my God, it’s almost down to my waist, again!” she was worried. The way the curse worked, this would never stop. Even if she never insulted anyone again it would keep getting longer and thicker forever. Even so, she couldn’t go running to Kyle, she wouldn’t give that little- she stopped herself, she didn’t know how sensitive the curse was, maybe if she even thought an insult it would grow faster and she couldn’t take that chance. Still, she wouldn’t go to Kyle, besides, she didn’t even know what he looked like. Looking at her hair, just brushing the top of her cheerleading skirt, Jenn made her decision. She skipped the rest of her classes and went home. Maybe her Mom could help, maybe there was some sort of medical or herbal or hormonal treatment that would stop her hair growing. She’d try anything before she’d beg Kyle for help.
