"Door's unlocked!" Mary calls out. Instantly, she slaps her pawlike hands over her mouth in surprise. Her voice was high-pitched and squeaky, sounding much like an "Alvin and the Chipmunks" cartoon.
"Mary? You okay?" Susan's voice sounds out as the door opens. Mary was expecting to shock her friend, but it's Mary who's utterly surprised.
Susan is about a foot shorter than she remembered her being, (though still taller than Mary is now) and covered in a poncho, obscuring her features. Susan pulls off the hood to reveal her head, covered with brown, tawny fur. Long ears spring up from under the hood and stand stright up. Susan's two large, black eyes shine back at Mary and her nose twitches.
"You're... a rabbit..." Mary says in a state of half-shock.
"And you got a box too, huh? Mouse?" Susan clearly has the upper hand in this confrontation, not seeming rattled at all. "Thought your voice sounded funny."
"Yeah. This is weird. I thought I was the only one..."
