"It seems to grow a little more every year," Shanna remarked. She placed her fingertips on the window of the car door as she watched the city skyline. The lights of the high rises seemed to float by as the car swept down the raised interstate.
"What? Witches Woods? Yeah, it does seem to get bigger every Halloween. It's been, like, going for 10 years," Jack responded from the front passenger seat.
"Actually, I was talking about downtown, but..."
"Everything gets bigger every year, Shanna, that's part of being Ahmercan," Paul twanged from the driver's seat, "Why do you think we have to drive an hour and a half to get to this thing now."
"I'm a little surprised that so many people do go," Katie quietly added as she leaned toward the middle of the cabin, "You guys never talk about them, but I still have heard a lot of rumors about Witches Woods. I wouldn't go if you three hadn't been there before."
Jack shifted and turned a big grin toward the back seat, "Shit, Katie, we don't talk about the rumors because they're rumors. You know, superstitions, ghost stories, the boogie man. Like, do you really think a witch still lives in all that farm land, or that people change all of a sudden after visiting a Halloween attraction, or, even better, they disappear from the face of the earth? Come on."
Shanna placed a hand on her friend's thigh as her gaze turned away from the city lights, "Sweetie, we have gone to Witches Woods for four years and nothing has happened to us except a few scares, a few laughs, and maybe a little frostbite."
Paul chuckled, "Speaking of which, it's a little late now, but did everybody bring enough layers?" Jack, Shanna, and Katie nodded as he quickly looked around. "Well, good. I brought gear just in case. Those bonfires only do so much," he lowered his voice into a bad Vincent Price impression, "I heard if you freeze your naughty bits off in the woods, the witch will come and steal them. Woo, ha-ha-ha-ha!"
