You dumbfoundedly make your way downstairs, dressed with what clothes you could find in your room. Your mother beams at you in approval, and you begin wondering -- did she change? Has her memory altered at all? But that's soon laid to rest.
"... Why, you look so pretty! Does it feel all right? Do you want to talk about it, (name)?"
You just blink. She called you by your name. She knew you weren't always a catgirl. A bit of relief wells in your stomach and you nod gently, feeling your soft bangs shift a bit.
"I know this must be a lot for you to take in..." she runs a hand across the top of your head, and you begin to feel warm. A soft vibration can be felt in your chest, and your cheeks flush with a smile.
You swallow the lump in your throat.
"I... Mom... w-what happened to me? How do you know...?"
She puts a finger to your lip.
"It's all right... you're my child, no matter what. No magic could take you away from me."
She pulls you into a maternal hug, a gesture that makes you squirm slightly with the alien feelings on your chest but you accept it.
