"Jack, be nice." Shanna gave him a stern look. "So, I am going to meet this girl?"
"Yeah, Emily and her friend," Jack put a low inflection on the last two words, "are both coming back over for lunch."
Shanna snickered at Jack's disdain for Anna, sharing a mirthful look with Katie for a moment. She saw Katie shift at some unseen irritation and raised an eyebrow. It passed quickly enough though, and clearly Katie seemed more comfortable than Shanna had been as she walked out of the tent.
Shanna's curiosity was interrupted by the ringing of the bell they'd hung on the lantern post near the path to the campsite. She looked over to see the two girls she recognized from the night prior. Emily had wavy strawberry blond hair, and smiled as she walked into the campsite. Anna was considerably sterner as she saw Jack, but managed a friendly enough wave to Katie and Shanna. Her curly dark hair marked her Mediterranean heritage, tied up into a tumble down her back.
"Glad you could make it Emily," Jack said with maximum smarm before being shot a glance by Anna.
"Hi, I don't believe we've met." Anna said as they drew closer. "I'm Shanna."
"Emily, as you probably guessed." She held out a long-nailed hand and shook Shanna's.
"And I'm Anna." Her companion offered a likewise long-nailed hand, which Shanna clasped. Shanna's own nails clicked against the dark-haired girl's as they shook hands, which gave her pause. Her nostrils flared for a moment, and she smelled the scent of woodsmoke and leaves that had settled into the two girls' hair, as well as something else she couldn't place.
She didn't really get a chance as the smell of meat wafted into her nose again and her mouth watered. It was a sentiment they shared, as all three made their way to the picnic table. Katie sat down immediately as the burgers were being served up by Paul. Shanna had a seat a little more uneasily, as the bunched up hair in her panties itched and brushed against her in odd ways. Shivering a little at the sensation, she looked across the table to Emily and Anna who seemed similarly inconvenienced. Emily winced as she eased onto the bench, and Anna's lip curled in what was almost a snarling expression before she settled. Both noticed that Shanna had seen, and looked slightly embarrassed.
The four of them set into the burgers eagerly, the outside air clearly having improved their appetites to the point that they could easily keep pace with the two guys. Katie was wiping some of the meat juice from her chin as she looked to Emily, catching a glimpse of the girl's prominent canines as she took a large bite.
After eating, Anna stood and stretched, audible pops coming from her joints as she paced for a moment.
"You know," she mused, "it's too lovely a day to just stay in the campsite. I'd like to get a hike in before they're trying to scare the crap out of us. Who's with me?"
