"Well this is just great,", Max thought to himself as he opened the door to the small room, "I enter a school for magic, and I get a room on the roof". The room which Max got wasn't even that well built, as there were many obvious holes and the bed was sinking into the floor, not to mention that the whole room was so small the bed took up nearly all of the room. Max couldn't go back downstairs to get another room because he had managed to get up before all the doors to the outside locked, including the one that was on the roof. Then things took another turn that night and not for the better.
Lightning flashed as a huge thunderstorm began to brew, rain coming down in buckets and Max had three choices to make: Stay in the room with the swiss cheese roof, stand out in the rain or take shelter underneath one of the many statues up with him. Not wanting to take either of the two, Max ran out to a very realistic, obsidian dragon statue and tried to get comfortable. Unfortunately, he couldn't find a spot that had decent cover that he didn't slid out from. Giving up, he walked back to the room, closed the door and tried to make due with what he had. The rain kept pouring in and eventually Max couldn't take it anymore. He had come from his abusive home just to get away from this, and now he was in a room with virtually no roof, a soaked, sinking bed and who knows what else.
Tears began to roll down Max's face and he softly sobbed, hating his life and everyone else in it. That continued until he noticed that the rain wasn't falling through the roof anymore. Max looked up and saw to his surprise that something was draped over it, something black and by the looks of it, sort of leathery. He got up and walked over to the door, but found it unable to open out wards, like someone had locked it or something. Try as he might, Max couldn't open the door.
"Well, at least I have SOME shelter" Max thought to himself, before...
