The Magic Shop

A Strange Journey

added by TFTickTock 16 years ago A S

Amy padded her way through the store on her hind-paws. She passed aisle after aisle, but still couldn't find Lina. She got to the end of one row, meeting the wall of the store, and surmised Lina must be toward the front. Before she continued, she noticed a gaping hole in the wall. It was a large semicircular tunnel. The inside was pitch black, and a sign above it simply had a silhouette of a four-legged animal.

Being a cat, Amy couldn't pass up this mystery. She boldly entered the dark tunnel, walking slowly and carefully. After a few steps, her head hit something. She rubbed her shaggy mane with one hand and explored the darkness with the other. The ceiling was lower here. She ducked and continued on. Her arm stayed raised to monitor the slow descent of the ceiling. She was forced to her knees as she continued on. She spread her arms out to find that the entire tunnel was gradually shrinking as she kept moving forward.

Irked at the strange design, she considered going back. However, a small glint up ahead bolstered her confidence, and she was determined to find out where the tunnel led. In a short while, the tunnel had gotten so small that she had to crawl on her hands and knees. It kept getting smaller, but as her back and sides brushed against the curved edge of the tunnel, she still managed to continue on. Her clothing began to drag, probably due to the squeezing she was forced to endure, but she didn't care. The end of the tunnel was getting closer and closer.

Finally, after the tunnel seemed so small that she was afraid she'd become stuck inside forever, Amy emerged into the light. Her eyes quickly adjusted, and as she looked around, she saw that she was back in the store. The aisles even looked like the exact same ones she had just passed before she found the tunnel...except these aisles were gigantic. Amy approached the closest one and found that her head didn't even come up to the second shelf up from the bottom.

She wondered where the tunnel had taken her. Was this some kind of alternate dimension, with giants? She turned around, deciding to go back, but her eyes met a startling view.

It was the tunnel. Exactly as it was when she entered it. It was so huge, Amy thought the Titanic could fit through it. She turned left and right, searching for the small end that she had crawled out of, but it was nowhere along the wall. Only the large, looming entrance remained.

She let out a surprised cry for help. "Meow! Mrrow!" She shook her head, tried to clear her throat and cry again. "Mrrrrrowww!" Her heart beat faster. She tried to clap a hand over her mouth and fell over. Confused, she looked at her arms. They weren't arms anymore. Her hands had been completely transformed into forepaws. She had been walking on all fours and hadn't even realized it. She noticed her clothes were gone. They must have fallen off just before she left the tunnel. She had been completely turned into a gray-and-black-striped cat!
