“I think I’d like to just shrink you smaller.” Ty finally said. He had thought about it carefully for a few minutes and had decided that he wanted to start this whole madness simply.
“A wise choice, Tyler,” Seera agreed, “it is best we start your tutelage slowly. Very well! We shall simply make me a smaller dragon all together. Keep in mind I can’t change myself in any way, so what you do to me is permanent unless you and only you desire me changed further.”
“All right. I’m ready.” Ty said, cracking his knuckles. “Teach me, Seera!” Ty giggled, this was incredibly exciting.
Seera smiled at the young boy’s enthusiasm and nodded. “Very well. First, I shall assist you in conjuring a control device. Rather than try to control your power all the time at this early stage it is best if you make yourself a tool to handle it for you. A wand, perhaps, or any object you desire. It will be endowed with the power to change only what you ask it for and affect nothing else, making it limited and unable to make advanced complicated transformations.”
“That makes a lot of sense! I don’t know what I’m doing yet. Can I have a magic ring?” Ty asked.
“As it pleases you, Tyler. The shape of the object is irrelevant, but it must be able to touch your skin. The moment it is separated from you it is unable to work. You contain power, not the object. We will merely construct something to focus and limit what you change.” The dragoness rested her front legs on top of one another. “Are you ready to begin?”
“Yeah!” Ty said, eagerly rising from the bed and standing in front of Seera.
“Good! It is a simple matter of willing the object you want to appear, but you must also will the condition that the object will not alter reality, history, or time. That will prevent you from making any mistakes. As well, you want the object to effect and control change as long as you wear it. Simply asking the ring to perform an act for you will make it happen. Please do so now. Take your time and make sure you word everything correctly. Speak it out loud if you need to.”
“All right.” Ty closed his eyes and concentrated. He wanted a plain solid gold ring to appear on his ring finger on his right hand. The ring would, as Seera said, not alter reality, history, or time. The ring would do anything Ty wanted it to do – within the rules – simply by willing it to happen or speaking a wish out loud. The ring would not work unless he was wearing it.
Seera smiled in joy as Ty opened his eyes. “Well done, my young sorcerer! You now have a control device. Look!”
Ty looked down at his right hand and there on his fourth finger was a brand new glittering gold ring, without any markings. It had simply appeared out of nowhere.
“Now, it is a simple matter to change me using your ring. Ask it to perform the change for you but do not directly will it from yourself.”
“Heh!” Ty chuckled. “This is great! All right!”
Seera waited patiently again. “Choose a size for me to shrink to.” She winked one eye at him. “Not too small, now.”
