"This is incredible," Jess said in a weak voice as she and Mary finished their transformations into cowgirls. "It's...it's just indescribable!" She brought her hand up to her head when a pressure there alerted her to the growth of something above her long cow ears. Her fingers touched something hard and pointed. Looking at Mary, she saw two horns slowly growing up out of her hair and knew the same was happening to her.
Once the horns had grown in, the changes seemed to be complete. Mary put a hand on Jess' leg. "You'll never forget this as long as you live," she smiled. "Come on."
Jess held onto Mary's hands as she carefully got to her feet. The weight of her new udder and her functional tail were forcing her to accept a new method of balance. After a few shaky steps, she got the hang of walking with them. Milk sloshed quietly inside her udder as she followed Mary to the door.
"Where are we going?" Jess asked. "Looking like this, we're bound to attract attention."
"I just have the urge to get out of town," Mary said airily. "Let's go somewhere quiet and have a relaxing afternoon."
The idea sounded fine to Jess. The more she thought about relaxing, the more the image of a prairie and wide-open sky appealed to her. Basking in the sunlight all day, grazing and caring for nothing at all...
