Rene goes to his tools and produces a length of wire attached to loops. He wraps the wire around Clay and grips the loops.
"Do you thrust me?" he asks Clay.
Clay nods slowly.
Rene applies force and the wire cuts into Clay just below the rib cage. Clay feels no pain but is disturbed as the wire slowly cuts him in half and he looses all feeling on his lower body. He knows a moment of panic as Rene grabs his upper part and sets him on a side table, but Rene smiles reassuringly and the fear subsides.
Rene then cuts a slice about two inches tick from Clays abdomen which remains along with his lower body on the stand. The artist folds the slice into a shapeless blob and sets it in the bucket with the rest of the bronze material. He then grabs Clays upper body and sets it on the remaining lower half.
Clay is relieved as with some encouragement from Rene his upper and lower parts bind once more and feeling returns to his lower half.
Rene then quickly proceeds to cut away Clay's arms, removing a slice of one inch each from the middle of the arm and forearm, before reattaching them.
The mirror reveals to Clay a figure of perfect parts grotesquely put together: the arms are proportionate to the body, but the legs are too long, the hands too big and ugly bumps in the material appear where slices have been taken out and the pieces no longer fit.
"Do not worry." Rene reassures Clay "it is merely temporary, but I will have to mount you to continue. It is, I'm afraid, a bit uncomfortable."
"I still thrust you" Clay replays in a voice of fractured harmonics like the rest of his body.
With a huff Rene lifts Clay's body and carries it a short distance to where a pole is standing upright on the floor.
The pole contains a protruding spike and Rene position Clay such that the spike penetrates his body just behind his scrotum.
Clay comes to rest on the pole which supports his weight so that his feet dangle down at each side of the pole and his body remains upright.
The sensation of being balanced on a pole with a spike lodged inside his body is unsettling to Clay and a bit uncomfortable. After mounting Clay, Rene resumes his work and the feeling of having his body remodeled serves to take Clay's mind away from any discomfort.
