Mary was the first one to check on Kimberly the next morning. She looked everywhere and after asking others she reported Kim as missing.
Police came and F.B.I. as a possible kidnapping. Questions of the day before and where's and who's. A report was filed and by night all was back to normal, except that Kimberly was not found.
Mary went to Kim's room and looked at all her things. As she pondered the previous day she thought back to the trick of hiding Kim's water.
A possible thought that the water was drug infested and Kim was off in a drug induced state, Mary decided to check on the fountain. She borrowed Jim Anderson's bike and set out toward the fountain. After a thirty minute ride she stood at the same place Kim' took a drink.
Mary reached in and touched the cool water. Sweating from the bike ride the water seemed inviting. Turning to the bike she removed the water bottle attached and filled it with the cool water.
Suddenly a noise and Mary turned quickly to see two policemen on their nightly park patrol. Thinking Mary asked about the fountain and if they had seen her friend.
"Well if your friend is a horse we found a mare here last night. She was sent to Olympic stable, Ahh , K.L. Equestrian Farm I think. I've seen lots of reports over the years of finding horses, mares, stallions and some odd breeds wandering around this fountain, odd!"
Mary wondered about where the Equestrian Farm was located and set out to check on the horse found last night.
After five miles Mary was hot sweating and tired. Thinking about what she was doing and how the mare's discovery and Kim's disappearance might be connected seemed dumb.
A thoughtless action by the athlete she feeling thirsty grabbed the water bottle on the bike and squirted some in her mouth. The water felt cool and had no bad taste. Mary just decided that it couldn't be drugged and kept on sipping as she rode.
