"I cant believe how hairy you've gotten, its freakin’ insane!" Simon said looking at his younger brother "you're a freaking... wookie or something!"
Jeff, meanwhile, was preoccupied with the chronovac, staring into the screen, but he paused for a moment to look up at his older brother shirtless at the doorway, who did appear noticeably taller and had sprouted some hair on his chest, though it was nothing in comparison with Jeff.
“I’m just trying to see what’s… uh… what’s”
“going on?” Simon said, completing his brothers awkward sentence.
“Uhhh…yeaaah” Jeff replied.
Jeff’s beard had grown out overnight, entangled now with a swirling mass of hair that was pouring out of the collar of his tee shirt at the base of his neck. Under all the hair, skin was no longer visible in the front of his torso, and only slightly visible even on the very back of his neck.
Jeff realized that as the new benchmark, as the standard for index 30, the reference for the entire index, his hairiness was unchangeable, he was stuck this way, in a "wookie" like state, as his brother described it, and he wouldn’t be able to change anything... unless... he got someone to take his place as the standard, Unless he could find someone to make even hairier... somehow.
Simon, meanwhile, was feeling uneasy, pacing back and forth in the hallway. He knew something was up, and he understood now that there was something going on with that program that Jeff was playing with. He wasn’t sure, but he knew that these kind of "hormonal changes" were nothing natural, there were extra forces working here. And though Simon liked the new muscularity and his extra inch in height, and even his added body hair, he was worried where this was going. Maybe he would end up like Jeff, and that would be something he couldn’t deal with.
But he realized he already had it. He could do the same thing he did before, but on Simon. He could cause Simon to undergo a second transformation at the same time he was currently changing, which would inevitably cause the same glitch in the program, or so Jeff hoped, and cause Simon, with any luck, to grow even hairier than Jeff... thus freeing Jeff from being the program reference and allowing him to reduce his body hair and become normal.
A sly and somewhat menacing grin grew on Jeff's hairy visage, he looked over at his brother, who already seemed concerned.
