Kat walked over to Dan’s position.
“What is it?” Kat asked.
“Look at my clothes, they’re girl’s clothes!”
Dan turned to look at Kat and saw something that he didn’t want to believe. Kat had become a skunkette!
“Kat, you … you’re a skunk!”
“What are you talking about?” Kat said.
“Look in the mirror!” Dan said.
Dan watched Kat do as Dan had asked her. Kat’s scream was almost enough to shatter the mirror.
“Okay, okay, I can reverse this,” Kat said.
“But Kat, if you’ve made it so I … we’ve always been skunks then there’s nothing to reverse. You’d have to turn us back into humans rather then reversing this! But you can't as you can't undo the skunk spell,” Dan said.
“How did you?” Kat asked.
“I don’t know, you must have made me smarter somehow. Wow, I can finally understand stuff that before always confused me,” Dan said.
“Well, we can’t stay this way. You said I might end up creating a paradox! What does that mean anyway?” Kat said.
Dan smiled at Kat as Dan turned to look her sister over. She felt dizzy and cradled her head.
“What’s wrong?” Kat asked.
“I … I don’t think I can remember what you looked like as a human. Oh God, what have we done? I became a Skunkette by transferring the female skunk part from Jack into me. However, if I’ve always been a skunkette then we couldn’t have done that. But if we didn’t do it then I … we couldn’t be skunks but then…”
Kat grabbed Dan’s shoulders. “Dan, get a grip, I can undo this.”
Before Dan’s eyes, Kat changed back into a human! Dan noted that she wasn’t changing back. Around her, Dan’s room began to change back into what it looked like before Kat had changed history so she was always a female skunk. Dan’s memories of Jack shifted back and forth from Jack as a human to Jack as a female skunk.
“We’re creating a paradox. Things are changing back and forth because there isn't a stable setting. You have to do something before we end up destroying the entire universe!” Dan cried.
In desperation, Kat cast a spell to freeze time for everything but her and Dan as she shifted back into her female skunk form.
“Okay, that will give us time,” Kat said.
Dan whipped her brow.
“Now, go over what went wrong,” Kat said.
“All right. A Spell turned Jack into a skunkette. So, I wanted to help him by taking the skunk and female part from him and putting it into me. You wanted to cast a spell so people wouldn’t think me being a female skunk was abnormal. Problem is, you accidentally made it so I was always a female skunk,” Dan said.
“Yes,” Kat replied.
Dan paced back and forth through the room. She took a few seconds to look her body over. Having fur was an odd sensation. It was as though she were wearing a sweater that she couldn’t get off! Her tail was even stranger. Like another arm or leg but far more flexible.
“You need to undo that spell. Me becoming a skunk because I absorbed that from Jack is the key. If I was always a female skunk then I never had a reason to do that. But I’m a female skunk because I did that. It’s like the chicken and the egg but without a logical beginning,” Dan said.
“I think you’ve been watching too much Star Trek,” Kat said, folding her arms.
“Look at what’s happened! This isn’t science fiction, it’s real!” Dan cried.
Kat nodded. “Why don’t I make it so Jack instead got turned into a vixen or something? If you were a male skunk before that, then you’ll turn into a vixen, having absorbed it from Jack.”
Dan thought of it but realized the problem. The spell required Jack having been a skunk for Dan to get the skunk part from Jack. It would also mean drastically altering several people as well as another spell (assuming that were possible). Dan knew that it was too dangerous and could create more problems then it solved.
“No, you need to undo having people think I was always this way. It’s the only way,” Dan said.
“People will treat you like you’re a freak!” Kat protested, stamping her right foot.
“Better that then the entire universe blowing up!” Dan said.
“Okay, okay, I’ll undo that part,” Kat said.
With a wave of her wand, Kat had done the deed. She turned back into her human self. When she resumed time, Dan noticed that his wardrobe was back to it’s normal self.
“Good, but there’s still the problem of Mom and Dad wanting you to change me into something. What if this doesn’t count because it restored Jack?” Dan asked.
“No worries Dan. Here, I’ll show you something,” Kat said.
With that, Kat grabbed Dan’s left arm and they both vanished.
