"Ok Boy, it's time for your bath!" calls out Josh to you. You turn to face him, your tail going still and your tongue retracting back into your mouth as you stare at him with some uncertainty.
"Woof?" you let out a bark that seems to have a question mark attached to it. It's not that you mind the idea of a bath entirely, but what would happen if Josh were to take off the collar. Would you change back into a human boy again?
Personally, due to the influence of your canine side, you do not feel like having to be subjected to risking that. You don't feel like going back to your old life, not now anyway. Yet, you don't feel like angering your friend and master. You know he might react badly and even discipline you if you behave out of turn. You don't want to be punished. You just want to be loved, treated well, and have some fun. You had an advantage to other canines, you had been human once and knew how their society worked. You knew how to avoid the pitfalls.
Finally deciding to surrender, you approached your master, Josh, panting contently and wagging your tail once more. You give him a bark to assure him you're ready. "Good boy," he praises you as he motions for you to follow behind him. "Such a smart dog you are."
Woof!
Following closely behind him, you enter the bathroom as he shuts the door behind you. He soon removes the collar and then helps lift you into the bathtub. You note to yourself in a thankful manner that you notice no changes seem to be occuring now that the collar has been removed. You suggest to yourself maybe it takes a while for the effects of the collar to wear off, perhaps it is aware of moments like these where it would be required to be removed. Either way, you're glad to remain a dog.
But you soon feel like letting out a bark of protest when you feel a cup of water dumped over your backside, soaking your fur. It felt rather unpleasant considering you had no warning due to being caught up in thought. But after a few more cups of water, it doesn't bother you so much. But all the water running down your fur, weighing it down, begins to bug you so you shake yourself off naturally as any dog would.
"Agh!" cries out Master Josh as he ducks behind the shower curtain to avoid being sprayed by your shaking off of excess water. He peeks out from behind the curtain and you just stare at him, panting contently. "Devious dog you are, diabolical even!" he jokes.
You let out an agreeing bark with a few laugh-like sounding pants. This doesn't seem so bad afterall. You get to enjoy things in a much more simplified manner while keeping a complex thought process and being able to understand your friend and master. You almost want it to never end. But you know eventually it'll have to, because dogs don't live near as long as humans. But then you get an idea. Perhaps if you make sure to inform Josh to take off your collar near your time of passing, you'll revert back to being a human and then can put the collar back on, starting all over again with the cycle of a dog's life.
But you reason that is if you can still remember how to spell by that point or even remember at all. But it was a plan to consider. Your thoughts preoccupied you all through the bath, while Josh lathered you up with flea and tick shampoo. Before you knew it, the bath was over and he was drying you off. He then put your collar back on right after. You lick his cheeks in a show of gratitude. He giggles and opens the bathroom door. "Come on, let's get out of here."
You bark contently.
