Jen furiously began typing a message to Lisa.
"Lisa meet in b"
and just as she was typing "bathroom" a sudden tremor in her hands caused the phone to fall to the floor. That familiar tingling sensation had enveloped her hands!
Jen watched as her palms began to stretch out while her thumbs began to shrink slightly. Her fingernails moved to the ends of her fingers and turned into retractable claws similar to those in her feet. Her fingers became thick and stubby but still remained slightly functional as fingers. Blond fur began to grow in and black pads formed at the bottom of her "fingers" and on the ends of her palms. Her hands continued to lengthen until they were nearly a foot long and resembled fore-paws more than hands. The fur continued up her arms but stopped at her elbows, leaving the skin of her upper arms untouched.
Then the changes stopped just as soon as they had started. Out of curiosity Jen attempted to make a fist with her "hands" but with the shortened digits and longer palms she could only manage to curl up her stubby fingers while stretching what was left of her thumbs in a feeble attempt to reach her claws in vain. Instead of having hands that resembled paws, it would be more accurate to say that she now had fore-paws that slightly resembled human hands!
She tried moving her paws around, testing to see how dexterous her fingers were. She found that although she was still able to stretch and curl them to an extent, when she absentmindedly placed one on the counter, she was surprised at how comfortable it felt! She found that if she bent them in a similar fashion to her rear paws, with just the balls of her palms and her fingers touching the counter, she could comfortably support much of her body weight on them!
As she gazed into the mirror again reality hit once more. She Had Grown Gigantic Cat Paws!!! For some reason she was becoming more and more cat-like every minute! She began to sob uncontrollably as she thought of how her life was ruined! Tears soaked her fur as she held her face in her fore-paws. She slid down to the floor with her back against the wall tucking her legs in close, the fur from her rear paws tickling the backs of her bare thighs.
Then she remembered Lisa. She had to get ahold of her before anything else happened. She wouldn't want to have her mouth change and lose her ability to speak or anything before she could tell Lisa what was going on!
Wiping away her tears she instinctively used a fore-paw to support herself as she leaned over and, with some struggling, managed to grasp the phone with her thick fingers from where it had landed next to the toilet. She dropped it into her lap and was glad to see that her previous message was still on the screen. At first she tried to finish her message with just her fingers, but they had become much too thick, pushing many buttons at once no matter how hard she tried! Out of desperate frustration she accidentally extended her claws as she mashed the buttons and was rewarded with a single solo *beep*. Overjoyed, she was able to finish her message by typing with her sharp clawa, but ruined her phone in the process as the keys stuck to them and tore out as she typed.
After what seemed an eternity she finally was ably to hit the "send" button and got the message off to Lisa. Although it now read "Lisa meet in bghawdmoadwdleknfbathromhurry" she was glad to get something off to Lisa.
All she could do now was wait and hope that her best friend would be able to decipher the message and come find her!
