The hairy creature was getting less hairy, and I recognized the corpse as belonging to Arnold. His big jock body looked less formidable with a three inch hole in his chest. Andy had reloaded, and was on the move to take out another werewolf. I noticed the beer can lying a few feet away with a heart flopping around on the pavement. The heart was still beating. That was weird. As he fired again, Kyra went down with a hole in her abdomen, but she was back up in a couple minutes snarling angrily. Andy reloaded and fired 3 more times before he punched a hole in her chest and she started to change back.
I glanced back to Arnold's heart to see if it was still flopping around. There was a trail of blood leading back to the corpse. No it couldn't be? Could it?
The trail of blood led across the ground and up Arnold's naked back to a wound which was just healing over. I could see hairs starting to resprout on his back. Okay, maybe Coors wasn't the answer. I pulled back the tab on the bloodied can lying next to my foot, and drank the foamy contents. It may not have been the final answer, but it helped. The cans through the chest did slow them down.
"Andy, it's not working! Let's get out of here!" I shouted reaching in my pocket for my car keys.
