"Holy shit!" mumbled Andy, watching the body change back to its human form. "That's Officer Daniels; he busted me for possession a few months ago!"
Upon closer inspection, I saw that indeed, it was one of the cops who'd been bitten only minutes earlier, and as I looked around, I saw a ring of now four more werewolves, though I didn't see Karen anywhere.
The cruisers were peeling out of the area, most likely headed for backup, or possibly just saving their own asses; I didn't really know.
The four remaining werewolves stared down at the body of the cop, and I wondered if they could fully appreciate that we'd taken him down with a silver bullet, just not the standard kind.
I became acutely aware of an odd sucking sound, and saw the hole in his chest healing, a sad reminder that this wasn't some sort of miracle.
"Andy," I said, "We need to go; where's your car?"
