This predation thing, Keith thought, was overrated. Hunting was hard work, although following the advice of another panther he had met, he found more success when he avoided overthinking and let his new instincts take control. He had managed to kill his first prey, a rabbit, quickly, but he was still a little shaken by its expression of pain and terror. He tried to kill now both quickly and from behind. The raw meat, on the other hand, was delicious, perfectly adapted to his new digestive system.
He heard a footfall behind him and turned quickly. (The enhanced senses were great, but took a little getting used to.) "Oh hi Hannah." he greeted the female deermorph. Keith had gone to the support group his first night, but had a hard time fitting in, since most of the others there were victims of random transformations. He couldn't have that much sympathy--what did people think "random" meant anyway?
"You coming tonight?" the deermorph asked.
"I don't know, I think I'm doing alright as a male." Keith answered. It was true, in the days since his transformation Keith had adjusted to his new sex pretty well. Once he understood that the key was moving aggressively across the landscape rather than diffidently through it his gait had changed to an unmistakeably masculine one.
"That's actually why I wanted you to come. It would be good for some people to see someone whose made a successful transformation. Maybe get them to think how they could be successful rather than just suffering through it. Actually, there's another reason why I wanted you to come."
"What?"
Hannah smiled. "Just an hour ago, I met a new girl--a really confused, really sweet panthermorph named Jackie. I definitely think the two of you should meet."
Keith was intrigued. Most of the panthermorphs he had met had been male, and the females had been very definitely parts of couples. An unattached female. . .
Keith realized how much he had changed, fantasizing about being a sexual aggressor with a beautiful female. "OK," he answered. "I'll try to make it."
