"Oh, I'm so sorry, Laurie." Hannah gave her crying friend a big hug. "This is so awful for you. I feel so bad you came here and it wrecked your marriage."
"Thanks, Hannah. I appreciate it. God, I don't know what to do. I know telling him I want him to go back to being Jason isn't going to work--he'll just be miserable and end up sneaking back here again. But this whole 'I want to be your daughter' thing is just weirding me out. And anyway, I want to go back to being human and get out of the park and see if I can get my life back together. I don't know what the hell Jasmine thinks she's going to do, stay here or not."
"Do you think she'll be OK if you leave her here?"
"God, I don't know, he says he's in love with Mike, I mean she really is acting like a hormonal teenager--I hope she's eating the berries." Laurie grimaced.
"It'll be OK. I'll talk to her." Hannah soothed her friend. "I'm sure Jasmine will be fine, but right now you need to think about yourself. Do you want to stick around here for the rest of the time you signed up for or do you want to go back right away?"
"I think I want to stay around another couple of days, just to deal with it some before I go home."
"I think that's a good idea. You need to process this some before you go home."
"Thanks Hannah, you're a good friend."
"I may be leaving here myself pretty soon--the park management is going to take me up on my idea about getting professional training. But I'm not turning back to Harry--I'm going to be Hannah the deermorph on the other side of the fence, and I'm going to need every friend I can get."
"Oh Hannah, that's wonderful! I'm sure you'll be great at it."
"Can I count on you? Can I count on there being a human out there who won't think I'm a freak?"
Laurie returned her friend's hug. "Of course you can, Hannah."
"Thanks."
