"Sorry, Tim," you reply. "I've got some stuff I've got to do tonight."
"All right," he says. "Thursday, then?"
You laugh. "Thursday it is. Bye!"
You hang up the phone. Tim's the best friend you could've asked for. He's your boyfriend, but he never pressures you into anything, something you really appreciate, since you're still getting used to the idea of being a girl and being in love with a guy. Thirteen years of living this way have certainly helped you adjust, but it's only been five years since you started puberty, so the whole being-attracted-to-guys thing is still taking some getting used to. He's also perfectly accepting of your non-human form, realizing that there's another person inside the fox's body; he thinks you're attractive the way you are, but he's not one of those people who's obsessed with humanoid animals. You're grateful to have him as your boyfriend.
As for what you have to do tonight, you're going to your old house. You know that your old self was declared dead some time ago, but since your parents are dead and you didn't leave a will, your next of kin have only taken posession of your housewares and a few of your other effects. The house passed to a cousin of yours, who's been trying unsuccessfully to sell the place for a number of years. You plan to break into your house and recover some of your stuff. Eventually, you hope to track down the little punk who transformed you all those years ago. You're not sure you want to change back, but if you do you'll need some of your old clothes. Besides, if he still has the medallion (assuming he hasn't gotten himself into some kind of horrible predicament by careless use of it,) there's no telling what kind of trouble he could be causing; as the only one who knows about him, it's up to you to find him and stop him.
