You were river rafting riding the rapids when your rubber raft went off course, you are pulled into a cave along the river. Part of the cavern floor collapsed and is sucking in the river and your raft along with it. You cling on for dear life screaming as you descend down the maelstrom. You're afraid you'll die, but somehow instead of plunging into the water, you fall into a great lake or sea. You cannot see any land on the horizon except for an island looming before you. You look up expecting to see a rock ceiling, but instead its blue skies overhead.
The whirlpool that you rode down on now appears to be a water spout. The water spout drifts away from you seeming to lose power and sinking into the water. You think you see a shark fin break the surface of the water nearby.
You grab your oar and start stroking quickly for the island. You get out in the shallows, and pull your raft up on to the sandy beach. It seems at first to be a desert island, as your footprints are the only human ones in the sand. You secure your raft to a tree trunk, since you're not sure how far the tide rolls in.
Deciding to explore you notice some animal tracks in the sand, and decide to follow some of them...
