"The truth is," Tricia continued, "I really do want a few unicorn features. But not too much."
"Go on," Sam said, smiling. She got ready to key in the changes on the remote.
"I'd like a mane of blue hair, and a horn."
"Length?"
"Waist-length for the hair and just six inches for the horn. I don't want it to be too much in the way. Make it pearl white. Oh, and a blue unicorn tail, as well. That can be knee-length."
Sam completed entering the information, then paused for more.
"I don't want hooves, but I did like the two-toed feet from the cow form. And the feathering. That really belongs on a unicorn. Make the fur white and the feathering blue. Put some on my forearms as well, like before, and change my hands to the three-fingered ones."
"Are you counting the thumb as a finger?" Samantha confirmed.
"Yeah. The fingers are thick, too, like if I was wearing a glove that fit two regular fingers in each slot. Make my nails naturally blue."
"And will that be everything today, miss?" Samantha said in a mock customer service tone.
"That's all I can think of for the moment," Trish said. "Zap away."
Samantha saved the file as "TrishUni1" and fired. Instantly Trish's hair tossed about behind her, turning a shiny blue and growing to her waist. A thin tail emerged from a new hole in her shorts. It quickly sprouted a thick tuft of long slender hair to Trish's specifications.
Her hands and feet changed back to their former selves, though without the red and black color scheme as before. The blue feathering graciously spilled about her extremities. She flexed her thick fingers and wiggled her four toes. A pressure in the center of her forehead alerted her to the growth of her horn. It grew out slowly, being the last thing to change. When the pressure died down, she felt the bony mass, admiring the ridges.
"You look beautiful," Samantha said. "You see what happens when you just be yourself?"
Trish was inclined to agree, and she hadn't even seen her full body in a mirror yet. "Let's get me a mirror. I think I have a few more ideas I'd like to try."
