The coaster clatters as it starts up the first hill. The view is great from the front seat as you look over and see the span of the island. As the car starts to roll over the top, you and everyone on board throw their hands to the air and yell as it dives down. The force is intense as you feel the air being forced back into your mouth as you try to exhale.
The car dips back up and spins through a dizzying set of curves and twists. Then the car straightens out and starts to climb a second hill. Behind you, you can hear two boys snickering and laughing. They seem to be talking about you.
You turn around to let them know, and they quickly hush up, trying hard not to laugh. As you turn back around, one boy yells out, “nice ears.” A burst of laughter comes from behind you.
You try and shrug it off, but you can’t shake the feeling. You slide your hand up the side of your head, but your ears aren’t there. You keep going up and find them perched on the top of your head, and they keep going. Before you can get a full sense of them, the car rolls over the top of the next hill.
