Stonewood Male Dormitory

Dog Tired.

added by Canem 21 years ago A

Cody came back from his latest afternoon class feeling tired and hungry. He had not eaten anything this morning. But he wasn't sure if he wanted to just take a nap or spend the effort of going to the cafeteria in the dorm to get some lunch. He looked at his bed and saw that it looked very inviting to him now. Cody looked back at the door and then at his bed.

"Man, I am so tired and hungry. But I think I need a nap right now."

Cody yawns and then scratches his bulging belly. He sits down on his bed and takes his shoes and socks off. He doesn't bother throwing into his hamper, which is bulging itself with a week's worth of unwashed, smelly clothing. He just drops them onto the floor in a heap. Cody's head then falls toward his pillow. His body follows and the whole room shakes from the impact of his body collapsing onto his bed like a ton of bricks. Soon after he falls asleep and begins to snore like a freight train.

Minutes pass.

And then his roommate Julius enters the room. He stops just a few feet into the room and sees his roommate snoring away with abandon. He looks with disgust at the haphazard pile of clothing, books and other stuff that his uncaring roommate left about. His snoring roommate doesn't make the scene look any better.

"How did I get stuck with a roommate like this cretin? I tried to be friends with him. I tried to put with his boring crudiness and his habit with being messy. I almost have had enough of him."

He walks over to his bed, puts his backpack onto the bed next to him and then looks at Cody again.

"I could get the housing supervisor to kick him out. The only problem is getting rid of him and not having the supervisor assigning me a new roommate. The new roommate might be better than this slob here. But I can't take the chance that the next one might be better. What I am going to do with you?"

He raises a hand to his forehead and shakes his head in frustration. He looks around the room and tries to think of a way to solve his problem. His roving eye catches one of his magic books on the shelf above his personal computer. He smiles as he reads the title of the book. "A Treatise on Alteration Magic and Familiars". He gets off of his bed and walks over to his desk. He picks up the book and then looks at his roommate.

"Well this might be just the thing to curing my problem of dealing with a boorish roommate and enhancing my magical abilities. I think he will make a fine Wizard's familiar for me. Now let me see what kind of familiar I should make you into."

He opens up the book and begins to flip through the section of the book pertaining to familiars.

"Frog- no too slimey and disgusting. "Cat- not that one either, I am allergic to cats." He flips through a couple of more pages. "Ah here we go, canine familiars. I always wanted a dog for a pet. But my parents didn't think so. Well now I have the chance to get one and make it my familiar." Julius looks over Cody and smiles. "And you my friend are about to become my best friend."

Julius pores over the page pertaining to canine familiars and then flips through the book to the section dealing with alteration magic. He then walks over to his bookshelf again and rummages through the bottles and beaker lining it.

"Now where is that moth's cocoon that I need for this spell. Ah here it is!"

He picks up a bottle and shakes out a dry, silky cocoon. He puts it into his hand and then picks up the book again. Silently he reads the alteration spell. He then looks at Cody's snoring bulk and holds out the hand that has the cocoon on it. Julius begins incanting the spell that will change Cody into a dog. And in his mind's eye, he imagines Cody becoming the dog he had always wanted since he was a child. He imagines Cody becoming a Komondor, a breed of sheepdog from Hungary.

And on the bed, Cody still snoring away begins to change.
