"Jasper! Here boy!"
The forest seemed to grow darker, thicker, as Janet continued to search for the dog. Not her dog, of course - she hated the things - but when she'd heard that a little girl had lost a pet here she couldn't resist helping. Maybe it was because she was young and naive or maybe Janet was just a good person, but she could never turn away someone in need. Perhaps fate has a sense of irony then, as it was this incredible benevolence and compassion that would lead her right into the waiting hands of a Loki.
After hours of searching for Jasper, Janet was just about ready to call it a night when she came across a child weeping at the foot of a tree. Unable to even consider doing otherwise, she immediately started doing what she could to help him.
"Hey there, little guy. What's the matter?"
"N-no one wants to p-p-play with me," the boy barely managed to say between sobs and sniffles.
"Not a problem," Janet said with confidence, "I'll play with you! Whatever game you want!"
This was all it took to make the child's eyes shine with joy. To Janet, this meant another good deed done. Unfortunately for her, the old adage was to hold true: no good deed goes unpunished.
