Alex sat in his room, staring at the wall wishing he had some way to pass the time. Both his parents were off on business trips, his older siblings were off to college, and he was left alone with nothing to do. Hell of a way to spend a sixteenth birthday. He figured he might as well just sleep through the rest of the day. Just then, he heard a knock at his door. It wasn't usually like Alex to answer the door, but just about anything beat sitting around sulking.
The man waiting outside had a fairly thin frame, his youthful face topped with a messy tuft of fiery red hair. "Hey, sorry to bother you, but my car broke down. Can I borrow your phone?"
"It's down the hall," responded Alex, his dejection clear in his tone. He didn't see any reason to leave the guy out on the empty street, or at least didn't care. The call didn't take long, and soon the man was sitting alone with the bored teenager.
"Hey, why don't we do something to pass the time? Maybe a drinking game? Oh, but you don't look old enough for alcohol..." The man furled his brow, deep in thought. "Hey, I know," he said enthusiastically as he produced a white jug from a bag, "we can play with milk! It might not be quite the same, but it works, huh? So, what rules are we gonna play on? Maybe take a drink every time you blink, and the first one to stop drinking loses?"
"Fine with me." It wasn't, actually - he felt like he was playing some game for babies, with the milk and everything - but beating this guy at some ridiculous game was still better than nothing.
