"...check mum's library. She's always got some big book of curses she picks up at garage sales." Sofi says.
"Well sounds kind of dangerou-wait garage sales?" You ask.
"You'd be suprised. Anyway you wanna try that or something else?
"Well it sounds dangerous..." you say.
"Don't be a chicken." she says.
"I'm not I'm just saying...wait...what do you mean by that?" you ask. Given everything that's happened to you today you're more aware of phrases like that. Sofi grins mischieviously.
"Ohhh are you afraid that I'm going to turn you into a chicken? Are you afraid that if you don't follow my off-hand suggestion that I'll get angry and throw some magic dust at you that will turn you into a chicken immediately and forever? Or at least until I can think of something even worse to turn you into? Is that what you're afraid of." She says in a mock innocent voice.
"Of course not...so where's her library?" you say, not willing to admit she described exactly what you were thinking. For answer she laughs and tells you to follow her.
At this point the site of another trailer completely fails to suprise you. This one happens to be a jovial combination of cream and hot pink. Windchimes adorn most of the windows, and there are plastic pink flamingos in front which you can only hope were ALWAYS pink flamingos. You almost ask Sofi, but decide you'd rather not know.
The lady of the house appears to be in. She appears to be tall, but that might just be her hair, which IS quite tall, and a shade of blonde that somehow reminds you of canned pineapples. Her pantsuit appears to be custom made to match her trailer (hot pink with cream colored trim). She waters a couple of the plants she has growing outside and goes inside, all the while humming a song that you remember hearing on some old 1980's sitcom that you can't place. You look at her, look at Sofi, and picture her father in your head. Try as you might you can't imagine how Sofi ended up looking like a normal pre-teen girl. You decide not to ask, after all you've got a book to get your hands on.
That's the question isn't it...how DO you get your hands on one of her books.
