Richard entered the turnstile at the city zoo and smiled, patting his jacket pocket and the small Morphomax gun tucked carefully inside. Soon lost in the crowd on a pleasant fall afternoon, Richard began browsing the different animals for a potential “target” he could work with. He giggled with mirth at the thought that he was really doing this.
So, Richard walked through the zoo. Every animal was a tantalizing target, indeed, and he was having a hard time making a decision. It was when the young man came to the African exhibits and the great big tall giraffes that the wheels really got turning.
He liked giraffes. Their display, an African theme pen, held three of the long necked animals. A male named Tim and a female named Savannah. Richard decided that the urge was just too much to pass up. These wonderful animals were going to be his first experiment.
Sitting down on an abandoned observation bench nearby the giraffe pen, Richard pulled out the Morphomax and looked it over. His additional chip, the size of a memory card and inserted the same way, would allow him to vary the speed of the transformation from animal to anthro, and an optional percentage would allow him to vary the degree to which the animal would become humanized.
Wanting the transformation to be gradual and enjoyable, Richard set the rate of change to its medium / low setting. With that done, he altered the percentage of change to be 100% anthro. The tiny LED screen on the Morphomax depicted a fox turned into a completely humanoid fox, upright, two legged, with animal features. Then it displayed “ready.”
Richard took a deep breath and aimed the gun at the female giraffe, Savannah. The LED screen now showed a regular giraffe turning to a rather voluptuous looking anthro along with “subject scanned. Add? Continue?” Richard selected “add” and then pointed the gun at the male giraffe, Tim. Again, the LED screen changed to reflect two giraffes, one male, one female, and their separate shifts. This time he selected “continue” and the display changed to “Ready. Press any button to commence transformation.”
At that moment, Savannah was munching on a mouthful of Acacia leaves from one of the trees in her habitat while Tim was busy licking one of the fence rails with his long tongue. Richard held the gun up, pulled the main trigger, and there was a brief flash like a camera taking a photograph. Unseen, microwave energy concentrated in a beam that flew invisible through the air and struck both animals squarely in the center mass. The radiation soon penetrated the deepest parts of their bodies, mutated DNA and genes, and encoded the change. Just like that, it had begun.
Richard watched intently, wondering if it was working, making sure nobody saw him, and pocketing the Morphomax again. Minutes ticked by and he watched breathlessly, excitably, and noticed that something was indeed happening to the two giraffes. Ever so slightly, Savannah’s front hooves were beginning to separate and blossom. The cloven hooves were pulling apart into individual digits, at such a gradual rate it was barely noticeable. Richard took a look at Tim and with delight saw the same thing happening. More time passed, and Richard noticed both animals had longer back legs, and shorter front legs. There was a sudden audible crack that startled Savannah, and her knees on the back legs suddenly snapped into the position of a human joint. Moments later, this happened to Tim.
Richard sat back and watched with delight as the changes progressed.
