Putting on the Pumpkin Costumes

added 15 years ago O

"Let's put on our costumes now, before we head out." Carrie grinned, holding out John's rubbery pumpkin costume. He took it and Carrie got her's. John looked around for a place to put them on.

"Ummm...." John mumbled. The shop keeper, astute as always, pointed the two to the back of the shop. John and Carrie walked past aisle after aisle of furry, fuzzy, rubbery and lots of other kinds of costumes. In the back, they spotted two doors, above which a sign said 'Changing Rooms'. John and Carrie took them both.

John closed the door behind him. The changing room was rather large. A few chairs stood next to one wall. The opposite wall sported a mirror nearly filling all the length. John hung his costume on a hook and started undressing. He stripped down to his boxers, then paused and looked in the mirror.

A late-twenties guy with a bit of flab stared back at him. He wasn't the hottest guy around, he knew that, but looking at his reflection reminded him how realistic he looked. He didn't like that feeling. Having already been in this strange world, he was used to the sight of streamlined and clean scenery and denizens. His hairy body looked shabby and drab compared to everything else in this world. Even if he was going to dress up as a pumpkin, he liked that shape and form better than his one right now.

Shaking his head to remove his morose thoughts, John picked up the pumpkin costume and started putting it on. It had a zipper in the back which opened up the costume, letting him stick his feet in. One foot wiggled down easily through the body and into the leg. The leg was tight and stretched to accept John's foot and leg. He was glad he wasn't trying this on with pants. With a long pull, John managed to get his leg and foot all the way in. He put his other foot in and pulled that leg up and on. The tight legs of the costume were almost too tight. If he'd been back home in the real world, he'd be sure they'd be just tight enough to be a tourniquet. But, then he wasn't in the real world anymore. He smiled and pulled the rest of the suit up and around him.

With his arms fit nicely in the costume, his head as well, John zipped it up. He looked at his reflection int he mirror. John looked like he was drowning in orange. He suit had no padding, so it hung loosely. His face was in an opening, with the costume snug around. With a shrug, he walked a bit awkwardly out of the changing room and nearly bumped into Carrie. She too was a mass of loose orange rubber.
