Between her hurry to get everything set up and getting distracted by yelling at Luke Tiff realized that she had left the fruits in the kitchen unsupervised. They last thing she wanted was for one of her little brother's crazy friends to do something to them.
When she got to the kitchen she saw that her mom was getting dinner ready and that the fruits were still on the counter. Never thinking that her mom might have done anything with them, she gathered them up to take back to her room for safe keeping. It was a good thing that she had a small refrigerator of her own in her room for holding specimens. Since she had not bothered to count the fruits, or to see what kinds she had, she failed to notice that any of them were missing.
Up in her room she made plans for the tests she would have to run once Luke's friends were gone.
She was lost in thought until her mom called to her, "Honey, would you please help me with getting dinner ready?"
"Sure mom," locking her door behind her, Tiff rushed into the kitchen to help her mom by setting the table.
Less than ten minuted later she sat down to dinner with her family, a meal that started with a large salad.
A large salad that contained bits of some of the strange fruits she had brought back from the house.
