"Hey Mr, ya you!" Connor turned around at what he was sure was an empty street corner with a bent over backwards lamp post a moment before.
Connor found himself looking at an ink and paint hunchback creature with a balding scalp and one eye larger than the other. Next to him was a pushcart with crooked wheels, the cart full of unidentifiable babbles. "Who-Who are you?"
The hunchback just bowed as best as he could. "Just call me Mr. Plot Device, I'm here to help move the story along. So you wanna be the boy friend of a girlie were wolf?"
"How did you know that?!" Connor had always been so careful about his secret and could someone from another reality possibly know about it?
"Easy I read the script." The hunchback pulled out a script book with the words 'Choose Your Own Change Episode 31,986' on across the cover.
"There's... a script." Connor blinked in surprise. He knew this was Toon World were all the rules of cartoons applied, but this was a little much.
Mr. Plot Device just nodded. "Of COURSE there is, breaking the forth wall, and following certain convictions is a part of cartoons after all."
Connor just shook his head to get his bearing back. "So what were you saying about a lady were wolf?"
"I'm sayin' that I can advance the plot along to help you find the were wolf of your dreams."
"Yes really, though for the sake of world building, I now have to go into a slight gratuitous exposition so you might want to make yourself comfortable."
Connor looked around and realized there was a desk chair right behind him, sighing, he sat down, realizing he had better get used to this.
Mr. Plot Device put a graduation cap on his misshapen head and pulled out a pull down chart from his cart.
"Now then," He began tapping a exposition stick from nowhere onto the chart. "As I'm sure you're aware, Toon World is another reality from the one you know, just one of many alternate universes. However, here, the rules aren't just different for the universe as a whole, they're different from place to place! Something that would work here, in the western celluloid animation portion of toon world, is very likely not to work in the CGI, Claymation or Anime portions of this universe. And that's not counting all the forms of visual story telling that other alien species across the cosmos have, though reaching them is about as impossible as the average man in the 19th century reaching the moon. Halloween Town, like many theme parts of Toon World, intersect with nearly all the parts of Earth's Town World, because it's a fairly widespread Holiday in one incarnation or another. Thus, there's the rubber hose old school style of animation with the skeleton dance. The anime style that exists on the very edge of Halloween Town that's infested with vampires who are really aliens though they suffer all the weakness of a traditional vampires and spent their spare time bellyaching about they need to suck the blood from everything. The claymation where Halloween Town takes on the guise of The Nightmare Before Christmas. And of course the western celluloid animation which is what nearly everyone thinks about when they think about Toon World since the portal was discovered in America. The point is, while Toon World is one universe, it has many different shades of itself that perfectly overlap. So ya need to consider what KIND of werewolf you're actually looking for." Mr. Plot Device slammed a book shut on a nearby black cat's tail screech was enough to make up Connor, who had a fine line of Z's flowing from his mouth. Connor started awake.
"Huh? What?"
Mr. Plot Device shook his head. "No one ever stays awake through the exposition. Another thing you need to consider pal, is if you're looking to just explore you fantasy once and return to your sane, logical, and rational life, or weather you're looking for something long term. BECAUSE! Like it or not! A good deal of Toon World is rated PG-13 at worst. The higher rated areas are purposely harder to find! And while cartoons stick to the rules like magnets of same polarities, many wolves are into long term relationships. And that'll have a direct effect on you!"
Connor had managed to stay away this time. "How so?"
"Simple, if it's long term, it means you effectively become a factor in this universe rather than variable. You'll end up a cartoon wolf. This place has a habit of growing on some people." Mr. Plot Device pointed to a pair of Jack-O-Lanturns dancing along.
"You're saying I could lose my guy thing if I get changed in a kid's friendly part of this messed up universe?"
"And you won't miss it in the slightest, remember that. You'd cease to be a being of flesh and blood."
"And what would I be?"
"A lifeless painting on some animator's desk."
"What?!~"
"JOKING! Geez! Get a clue, you'll turn into an idea! Your shadow will become fiction in the the mundane universe. Your previous existence basically a dream fading with mourning light. Also since you'll be an idea, you might evolve, but you won't age. You'll be no different from any other toon in the world."
"So if I want to have sex with a female werewolf like I want, I need to make sure I'm in the right place for it to happen?"
"Don't worry, the plot should take care of that mostly for you. But I can promise you, whatever happens, after your 'ideal night' you'll be an artist's rendering of a wolf on two legs come after. And that's the art style you'll exist in."
