You twist around as you see the flash of a blade off to the side, but it is too late to avoid the blow. Yo are stunned by the impact - it feels like you've been hit in the right side of your massive skull with a sledgehammer. You stagger backward, terrified that you have received a death blow, but there is no blood. Your head feels unbalanced, and after a moment thoughts clear enough to realize that one of your horns has been sliced off, but the axe did not hit your body.
There is no time for relief, for the guard snarls and comes after you again, raising his axe high. That is a mistake on his part, for you still have one deadly horn that you use to gore him, tossing his body aside with a bellow of rage. The pain from your skull is settling into dull ache, and you pick up a huge barrel and toss it at two approaching guards, knocking them backwards.
"Come on!" It is Trelawn. You see the huge centaur at the gate. "We are free! Let's get Baranor and escape before they call in more guards!"
More guards? Bring them on! You clench your massive, hoof-like fists and bellow in anger. You will kill all of them! Then you see the blood dripping form yor remaining horn, and see the bodies you have left behind. Kill? You have just killed people! OK, they were trying to kill you, but this bloodlust and rage is suddenly terrifying. It's like you are thinking the way a minotaur monster would think!
You bolt towards the gate, suddenly afraid - not of more fighting, but of losing yourself to the minotaur mindset. But there is no escape from violence. Trelawn points towards a group of men running towards you from the center of the village. "I must free Baranor! Can you hold them off for a few minutes?"
You nod your massive head, already feeling the lust for battle swelling. These are not guards - they are common workers armed with clubs and farm tools. You stalk outside the gate and face them, giving a loud bellow of challenge. The men falter, then stop before they reach the gate, staring at you and arguing among themselves. A second bellow and step forward from you, and they turn tail and run for thier lives.
"I've got him!" Trelawn comes galloping up, his hooves thundering in the courtyard. There is a man-sized bipedal fox with multiple tails on his back, hanging onto Trelawn's human torso for dear life. He charges through the gate and heads for the woods.
You shout after him. "What about Shia'asa?"
Trelawn stops and turns back to you. "She has her full powers with the fullness fo the moon. No prison can hold her. She is about to take vengence on those who imprisoned us - we need to get as far away as possible! Come on!"
"What is she going to do?" You look back at the courtyard, seeing the flicker of lights as other poeple wake up from the shouting and fighting.
"There will be only animals here when she is done. A whole village of animals. Men, women, children - they will become beasts to pay for thier crimes against us." He gestures for the woods. "Hurry! We must get clear or Shia'asa's magic will change us as well!"
