Luke awoke with a smile on his face. It was Christmas! He ran downstairs to check on his
family's Christmas tree, and sure enough, there were presents everywhere! His spirits
soared, it was going to be a great holiday. Luke was a senior in high school, and so he
treasured this last Christmas with his family before he went off to college.
The morning dragged on excruciatingly slow. First off, his parents slept in unusually late.
Then Luke's father had a tradition of having breakfast before any gifts were opened. Luke
wasn't even allowed to check his stocking until the last bite of his mother's famous
Christmas Omelets were finished off.
Finally the presents were opened. Luke rode a wave of euphoria as a wave of gift cards,
video games, and of course, the cliché clothes flowed out of their boxes. The coup de
grace of his holiday was receiving a Nintendo Wii. Luke could hardly believe that his
mother was able to get one for him, on Black Friday no less.
As the festivity slowed down, Luke's parents looked over their various gadgets and
gizmos. Luke took his goodies upstairs into his bedroom to get some alone time. As he
climbed up the stairs he heard his mother shout, "Don't forget to take a shower Luke! I
know you skipped it this morning!" He grumbled, "Ah well, I can play with my stuff
afterwards." As he got out of the shower he wrapped a towel around his waist, wondering
what to explore first.
