"Five? Five?" Jackie was dazed. "How are we going to raise five kittens?"
"We can do it sweetheart. We're strong." Keith wished he was as confident as he was trying to sound.
Nothing in Jackie's life had prepared her for being pregnant, and now that she knew without doubt that new life was growing within her she didn't even know how to move. The kittens seemed so very fragile!
And Keith really didn't know what to do either, treating Jackie like a china doll.

Jenny heard the fawn trying to keep up with her, and slowed down. She needed to remember not to move so quickly now. Spike quickly caught up with her and hugged her again. He looked up at her.
"Will you be my mommy?"
And all of Jenny's thoughts about what she would negotiate in return for temporarily "adopting" Spike went out the window. "Of course I will, darling." She picked up the fawn and hugged him. "Of course I'll be your mommy."

"You're saying my son has decided to extend his stay in your park, but I can't see him and he hasn't allowed you to give me an explanation?" The tall woman was angry.
"That's right, ma'am."
"We'll see about this! I want to talk to him right now!"
"I'm sorry ma'am, but we can't bring him out. It's a park rule."
"I don't give a damn about your rules. For all I know you've kidnapped Jeremy. You want me to bring in the police?"
The Transformation Park supervisor sweated. There really wasn't a guideline for what to do in this situation. Probably the best thing to do would be to make it someone else's responsibility. "Well, ma'am, we can give you a temporary pass to go into the park and talk to him."
"Very well, but you better not be trying anything funny. People know that I came here!"
"If you'll just step this way, ma'am."
The supervisor led Maggie, Jeremy's mother, to a small room, where a presentation started playing:
