*Oh no* Leticia thought as she caught sight of Marth *I was really hoping he wasn't going to be that good-looking.* There was definitely still an attraction there, as the memory of the good times with Maria flooded back.
"OK, I'll be praying for you." Lateisha whispered, as Leticia went to the scariest confrontation of her life.
"Larry?" Marth was incredulous. This graceful, delicate, feminine being was her ex-boyfriend?
"My name is Leticia now." the doe whispered, afraid to raise her eyes to a person she knew she had wronged.
"And you want to stay in this ridiculous place?"
"I'm sorry, Maria. I really am. I wanted to stay faithful to you, you know that's why Larry chose to be female--it wasn't what he wanted. But these changes are more powerful than I ever could have imagined. Don't you feel like a guy now?"
"This isn't about me!" Marth shouted, and the bucks, who had been keeping their distance, moved closer, then relaxed. "This is about you not throwing away your life on some stupid fantasy with a jerk!"
"Jeremy's not a jerk!" Leticia's eyes blazed. "I love him! He's a great guy!"
"Didn't take you long to turn into an airhead." As soon as the words were out of his lips, Marth regretted them.
"Marth." Leticia said evenly. "I'm staying here. I'm going to be Jeremy's wife and the mother of his child. There's nothing you can do to change that. I don't know what the she-bear's been telling you, but beating Jeremy in a head-butting contest isn't going to change a thing. I am sorry, and I will always wish you well, but that's how it's going to be."
"We'll see about that." Marth answered, but his certainty was shaken. There was nothing masculine he could see in Leticia. Maybe it was too late to go back. And if it was already too late for Leticia, would Marth himself "freeze" as a buck? Thinking you could win someones affections by beating up her boyfriend was kind of a "male" way of feeling, as was Marth's attraction to the lovely doemorph Larry had become. Suddenly Marth felt very alone.
