"Hey," Wil is woken by a nudging at his ribcage and a grunt from pigspeak, and he groans groggily in reply. He had been dreaming of his sow Beth and didn't want to wake. "Hey you!"
"What?" Wil grunts in aggravation, peeling his eyes open. He sees a hog he doesn't particularly recognize, clearly not Beth, who is still asleep. He lifts his head to look at her, make sure she's not hurt before returning his attentions to the stranger.
"Did you come here on the boat too?" The hog asks as he sits down on his haunches. Wil gets up and peers past him, noticing three fine young sows waiting outside the cave.
"Yeah... Got away with Beth here in the chaos. You?"
"Yeah. Me and the triplets made our break for it shortly after Maria saw you two run. Name's Tobin. What's yours?"
"Wil. And as I said, this is Beth." he trots over to Beth and nuzzles her snout to wake her. "Beth, honey. We have company."
"I'm up, I'm up..." Beth grimbles and starts to stir.
"Groovy. Out there is Maria, Anita, and Sophia. Near as I can tell, it's just us six who made it out of there."
"Oh, good," Beth squeals in pleasant surprise. "More of us made it out of there!"
"Come on in, senoritas!" Tobin calls out, and the there sows trot their way into the cave.
"So, what do you think we should do?" Tobin asks, looking to Wil.
Wil thinks for a bit, tilting his head to the side. He's not sure why it seems that he's got the position of leader here, but he likes it. Respect. Power. Four sows instead of just one.
"I say we keep going, find a place far away from Circe and survive on our own. We may be pigs, but we're still smart like people. We can start anew, make a pig society, never have to worry about what our dumb old human families think of us."
"What?!" Beth asks, shocked. "What about the others? What about us? We can't make a society on our own..."
"Sure we can, Beth!" Wil says, getting more and more excited. "There's two guys and four girls! We'll be able to reproduce and then our kids can..."
"Wil! Don't be such a... Such a..."
"Pig? Why not? I am one. All six of us are pigs. Why can't we behave like pigs?"
"Because I won't be treated like some... Breeder, Wil! I won't! I love you, but if all you want is sex, then... Well, you won't get any."
"Beth, it's not like that, it's just... Okay, maybe it's a bad idea. I just, I don't want to go back there. Ever."
"We might have to, to survive," Maria says. "The three of us grew up on a farm. Livestock is important. And when some escapes, you always do your best to make sure it comes back."
"You think she'll look for us?" Beth asks, a look of fear coming over her eyes.
"I guarantee it," Sophia affirms. "Though not herself. Those horrible monsters who work for her will be sent out."
"And the news gets worse, you two. I looked around a but with Anita and there's not a lot of island left. They'll find is eventually. So what do we do?"
"I... I..." Wil stammers, unsure of what to do. He was scared. He'd never had to do anything like this before, never even read about it.
"There's only one thing we can do," Beth says, clearing her throat. "we go back, and somehow we out a stop to her for good. How, I don't know, but... We've got to do it, for our sake and for all the other pigs on this island."
