Joy screamed, or at least, she tried to. What came out was a choked whimper. She was
still recovering from losing all her wind moments ago. This was happening so sudden, so
fast, but what exactly was happening to her she didn't know. She watched her hands,
fingers becoming thicker and darker, hair crawling up and down her arms. Her arm
twitched, pulsating with every beat of her heart. Her fingernails pushed out and became
thicker, producing a meaty, slick noise as they grew sharper.
Making an effort to get to her hands and knees, she tried to hold herself up off the
ground. She looked at herself. A patch of hair had grown on her chest, right above her
breasts, and down her belly into her jeans. The hair on her arms and shoulders was
getting thicker and longer. A loud crunching noise followed with a sharp pain in her
back caused her to arch forward and wince in pain. Her painful whimpers were getting
lower in pitch, rough, like an animal.
"Joy? Unlock the door!" David rattled the handle, and pounded on the door.
Like an animal. She knew what this was, she had seen it in movies and read stories about
it. She was a werewolf. But how? She wasn't bitten by a wild dog. It didn't make any
sense, this couldn't be real. But it was. Joy was becoming a werewolf.
Her back felt like it was burning, her whole body jerked with popping noises, her
skeleton reforming, her muscles growing. Her jeans were so tight, but the pain in her
body masked the pain of the tightening jeans. Lucky for her, they began to split at the
seams, the button popping off the front. Her face was burning. She growled in pain as
the bones in her face began to crack and pop. Her ears were ringing. She could hear her
fur rustle as it sprouted, the bones in her body changing. They lengthened and became
pointed, covered in a light fuzz, like her face.
Her legs quivered and pulsed, cracking and lengthening, her feet becoming paws just as
quickly as her hands did. Her growing tail moved from side to side, causing the remains
of her jeans to fall to the ground. Her body was a rippling mass of muscle and fur. With
each breath, she exhaled with a low growl, hot saliva dripping out of her mouth as she
panted for air. Her eyes were now a golden shade of yellow. Popping and crunching, the
bones in her face were making the most painful and final part of her transformation as her
face pushed out, contorting into a muzzle.
"This isn't happening to me! This isn't real!!" Joy thought to herself, collapsing in a large
heap, her body still throbbing from the sudden transformation she just experienced.
"Joy? I'm going to kick the door in!"
Joy struggled to stand up on her four legs, and looked around for a way out. There was a
window, but it was shut, probably locked, and she currently lacked the fingers required to
get it open. What was she going to do?
The door shook with force, David was trying to break it down. The loud bang on the door
made Joy angry and scared. Her humanity began to slip away as instinct took over.
Someone was trying to get at her! She crouched and bared her fangs, stepping away from
the door. The door was kicked again, this time it loosened the door knob. Joy began to
growl and snarl. Something was coming to get her, and she was ready to fight back.
"Is something in there with you, Joy?" David asked, having heard the animal on the other
side of the door he was trying to kick open.
Taking a step back, David gave it one more forceful kick. The door swung open. He only
had a second to observe the large creature crouched in his bathroom before it lunged at
him, biting down onto his shoulder, sending him to the ground. David screamed in pain
and fear for his life. The creature ripped a chunk of flesh from his shoulder, then bit him
again, and again. David lost consciousness, but the creature continued to rip his flesh
apart, stopping only to chew and swallow his insides. David was dead, but there was no
Joy left in the creature. The wolf had control.
Losing interest in the fresh kill, the wolf smelled around the apartment. Finding the
screen door, and entranced by the glow coming from outside, the beast leapt through the
glass barrier and charged out onto the open field behind the building, through the woods.
Coming to a stop, the creature gazed deep into the full moon, under a spell of fascination.
It raised it's head and howled. This night was hers.
