The narrow pathway you're on begins to widen until you can't see the end either to the east or west. You also notice a change in the texture of the padded dirt beneath your feet until it begins to resemble virgin sand instead. The act of walking becomes more difficult as the soft sand no longer supports your weight as well as the pathway. Your shoes, not quite the most appropriate for walking on in this terrain, become completely covered in the sand, and you eventually stumble and fall get a face full of the stuff. Looking up and spitting sand out of your mouth, you discover you have been so preoccupied with your feet that you didn't notice what was right in front of you. An ocean. It seems impossible, but right in front of you, at five thousand feet above sea level, is a body of salt-scented water with huge roaring waves crashing onto the beach, so big that you can't see the other side. Shocked, you slowly rise to your feet, expecting to see the flicker of a hologram or anything that would prove this impossible sight as fake. After staring at it for a while, not noticing anything atypical of a normal ocean, you turn around, and discover that the pathway has vanished. There is no clear way home. Instead, an island looms before you, with a lush green forest and a large, seemingly inactive volcano in the distance. Lined up along the edge of the forest are several natives. Their dark skin and makeshift garb tells of Pacific Islander origin. They are all looking at you curiously...
