You think for a second, then shake your head. "No, I don't think we should do it just yet. Let's restore the others with what we know works. Then if the electromagnets damage anything, at least nobody's stuck as an animal."
"You know, that is a good idea." Alex walks over to the nanobot programming machine, furiously tapping the keys as bright green text scrolled up the screen line by line. "Now I think Anderson used Program 22a with an inverse iRNA strand replication module. Can you confirm that, or were you paying attention when he made it?"
"Well, I wasn't really paying attention, but that sounds familiar."
You watch as Alex puts in cryptic strings of information. Lily watches with pure fascination. Finally, after several minutes, Alex sets a narrow glass cylinder full of nanobot-rich fluid in the chamber. "This'll connect to this particular nanobot network and program them wirelessly," she explained. "Then the next machine will make the network in each bag unique to avoid any problems."
You watch as she pulls the cylinder out and inserts it into another machine, which begins filling three IV bags, one for each of the other humans turned animal. Looking through the database, you had found a male velociraptor and male and female sabertooth tigers. You pick up two of the now-full IV bags. "These should do nicely."
"What are you doing, mommy?" Lily gazes up at you questioningly. "Can I come?"
"Sure, honey," you say. "We're going to help some people out. Does that sound good to you?"
"Yay!" Lily jumps up and down a few times. "How are we going to help them?"
"You'll see." You look at Alex and wink.
Outside the lab in the main habitat, you and Alex split up. Lily stays beside you, looking around as if it's the first time she's seen the world, which is theoretically true. You search for a while, and finally you hear a call from Alex. Running through the brush, you arrive at the site. Alex is holding the tranquilized velociraptor in her arms. You carefully insert the IV and let the fluid drain, and Alex gently sets the raptor on the ground. Within seconds the nanobots go to work, with the same effect as on Alex, but the new velociraptor morph is clearly male. Your female side goes crazy at the sight, but you blush as the fact that you used to be male quickly tames those feelings. From Alex's face, she's just thought the exact same thing.
You suddenly remember Lily. Turning around, you see her walk over to the male lying on the ground and wrap her arms around his neck. She turns and looks at you proudly. "You saved daddy!"
You freeze as you let her words sink in. This keeps getting and more complicated. You shake off the feelings. Right now you have a job to do.
The first phase of your rescue mission almost done, you wait for the tranquilizers to wear off.
