Unsure of how to phrase it, Lee just comes out and says it, "Maybe you're not ready..."
She was staring daggers at him for even suggesting it but he soon recovered. "Look, you're having accidents and it's making you upset. Were you ever this sad or mad when you were just in diapers?"
Her expression had changed, now she looked like she might cry again. Lee had to act fast. "My dad says that some old habbits die hard, that's why he still smokes from time to time even though it's illegal."
That seemed to calm her down enough. "Maybe you're right. Maybe I'm not old enough. I just--it's just that some of the other kids were calling me a baby when I was in diapers and my parents were sort of pushing it..."
Lee decided to break the silence. "I still get that sometimes too but I try not to let it get to me." Another pause. "Maybe when we're both a little older we can try."
Carmen agreed. When she went home that day she explained to her parents that it just wasn't working out and that she'd feel better for the time being if she were back in diapers. They were at first reluctant but the improvement in her attitude put them at ease with the decision.
Life went on for another year and most of the students in trainers had fallen off the wagon and back into diapers. Thankfully the diapers were getting more comfortable and less childish which made it that much easier for a lot of kids to give up on their training efforts until later.
