Christine felt like crying, but couldn't. She sat in the water sullen, but hungry.
She hopped to the edge of the pond, partly submerged in the water, and waited. She snapped up a few more dragonflies, feeling less and less human as she did.
When a rabbit came to the edge of the pond to drink, she silently got closer, then snapped out her tongue and grabbed it. The starled bunny had no time to react as she swallowed it whole. It kicked a couple times before it stopped.
Christine felt strangely invigorated by the meal, and even felt a little bigger. She spent the next several days preying on the small woodland creatures that came to the waters edge.
One morning she laid in wait for another small creature when a doe came to the water for a drink. Christine ignored it for a long time, it was far larger than the prey she'd been eating up to now, but an instinct took over. Her tongue shot out and wrapped around the does' neck, pulling it into her mouth. The giant frog struggled slightly to down the huge animal, but she to her surprise she managed.
Feeling sated for the first time since her transformation, the now bear-sized frog swam back to the reeds to digest and sleep.
