Twelve hours. That's what it would be before I could change back. I thought about it... My mother was wearing this the day before I was born. I was born in the morning so it would be less than 24 hours but more than 12... I should be fine.
So I went up to the attic to get some clothes, in case Mom had left some in there years and years ago.
Needless to say, being nine months pregnant I was in no condition to climb up to the attic. So much for that idea.
I just put on a robe and walked around a little bit. Not much, I couldn't. I got tired easily and felt off balance. Then a few hours later I felt a pain. It was sort of like a cramp, but not in the right place. Labor was starting, and my water would break soon.
Labor went on for hours. It not only hurt, it made me feel like nothing could stop the birth--which would be true without the medallion. And then, I checked the clock and enough time had passed. It was 12 hours later. I took off the robe, because the robe might be useful someday. So I had to waddle to my closet and get out some clothes. I touched the amulet I was wearing to them....
(Writer's note: the standard medallion of Zulo won't work on someone who's pregnant, so he shouldn't be able to change back. However, nobody has yet said in this story that the medallion works that way.)
