I spent the next six hours going through the web page, which turned out to be a complete waste of time, as all the web page turned out to be was an online shopping mart.
Getting slightly frustrated, I stood and went to make myself dinner. After dinner, I began my search anew.
I was just to give up on ever finding the information I needed, when I accidentally stumbled upon a link to a tracking service for packages and from there I was able to backtrack the shipment to the now closed warehouse in Ireland. From there I was rerouted to a Threeriver Mall Maternity branch in Dublin and after a bit more searching managed to find a phone number.
Figuring out the time zone shift, I waited for an appropriate time and called.
After being asked for all sorts of information, including an accurate description of the dress and the information off the tags, I was finally given the information I needed.
In a tired voice that strengthened her Irish accent, the lady recited to me the information I needed: 'Maternity wear was popular in the nineteen seventies. The particular one you have was purchased by a young woman, who returned it the same day. Being a return, it was shipped back to the warehouse. There it remained until the warehouses closing and then it was accidentally shipped to the states'.
After I had collected this information and bid the lady good day, I thought of my next steps in locating the mystery woman that I now resembled.
-------------
After a sleepless night spent tossing and turning, I finally had an answer; the local public library. Showering, dressing and eating my breakfast on the go, I headed for the local library.
Once there, I quickly located the stacks and made an attempt to find something in the international section.
After four hours of searching, leaving for a large lunch and returning to my search for anther two hours, I finally had a name; Ms. Katerine McTaber. Born to Edmund and Lilly McTaber. According to the information the mother died in childbirth.
Going home, I now had a start. The next morning I booted up my computer and began a search for Katerine McTaber.
I would spend the next two days searching; only stopping for bathroom breaks, sleep and meals. By the end of the second day, I had my first stroke of luck.
I wrote done the information provided to me and it read: Born in nineteen forty nine to Lord Edmund McTaber, rumours were spread through out her life about a twin sister. Mother did in fact die during childbirth, due to complications. Supposedly heir to the McTaber fortune when her father disowned her in nineteen seventy two involving a scandal with the son of a maintenance worker.
Stretching, I decided that enough was enough for now and retired to bed.
----------
After two more days of searching, I had more information: Rumours of twin sister persist and father begins searching for supposedly long lost daughter after nineteen seventy two. Daughter was possibly turned over relatives of Lily that lived state side. Search was abandoned in nineteen seventy six when only known daughter died in a car crash that killed her husband and three year old daughter.
Sighing that this had turned out to be a dead end, I began searching for more information on the family and after an hour only came up with the information that Lord McTaber had retired to his estate and lived there still.
I sat back, trying to digest this information. The news that I was now Lord McTaber's daughter was something that needed careful thinking about. "Suppose I run into the my twin who was possibly sent state side? What then? She's got to be in her sixties. Would she recognize the resemblance between us?" I thought to myself, absently stroking my abdomen.
