Your dorm shirt ripples a bit and is replaced by a yellow sun dress. A pair of sandals appear on your feet a split second later. You look in a mirror and notice that your hair is a mess and you have no make up on.
"My hair is brushed and I have make up on" you said. Instantly your hair and face ripple a bit. You look much better now.
As you head downstairs to eat you hear the voice from your dream say "You have found a way to keep from accidentally altering reality. This is good."
When you enter the dinning room your mother says "About time you came down. Any longer and your food would be cold."
After you sit down your father asks "What are you planning on doing today?"
"I thought about going to the mall with my friends" you answered.
"Do you need tampons when I go to the store?" your mother asked.
You think about it and remember that you only have two tampons and you're period is due in a couple of days. "Yes I do" you answer.
"Ok, I'll pick some up for you" your mother said.
The rest of brunch was spent in silence. After brunch you grab your purse and head to the mall.
You had to take the bus since your parents only had two cars and your parents needed them today. You don't mind taking the bus when you need to. As you're waiting for the bus at the bus stop you start thinking about Steve and Jess. You really want to continue your friendship with them but they are older than you now. As to Angela, you would like to be in a relationship with her. Not as a girl though.
You look around to see if anyone is watching and say "Steve, Jessica, and Angela are 16 years old and go to the same school as me. Angela is a boy named Andy. Steve and Jessica are dating. Andy and I are dating. I am meeting them at the mall."
After you were done you felt the vertigo as new memories flooded into your mind. You recover just as the bus pulls up.
At the mall you head to the food court. You see Steve, Jess, and Andy at a table and join them.
"Hello sexy" Andy says as he stands up and gives you a kiss. He then pulls out a chair for you and you sit down. "What do you want to do?" he asks when he sits back down.
"Oh I was thinking of having some fun with my new power" you said.
"You have such an imagination Jill" Jess said.
"It's not my imagination" you said. "I can prove it to you. You guys are aware of the changes I make."
"Ok, we'll play along" Steve said. "What will you change?"
"I think that I'll change your shirt" you said.
"Go ahead then" Steve said.
"Your shirt is a pastel pink" you said.
Steve's shirt ripples a little bit and changes from white to pastel pink. His eyes widen in shock as does Jess and Andy's.
"Ok, so it wasn't your imagination" Jess said.
"Please change it back" Steve pleads.
"Ok, your shirt is white" you said.
Once Steve's shirt is back to the way it was he asked "What is that?"
"It's the gift of speaking only the truth" you said. "When I say something it's the truth. If what I say isn't the truth then reality changes to make it the truth."
"Here's a little test for you" Jess said. "I want you to answer with something other than the truth. What is Steve's gender?"
Steve visibly pales and begs you not to answer. You ignore him and answer "Steve's gender is female."
Andy and Jess watch Steve for a couple of minutes. When it was apparent that Steve wasn't going to change Jess said "I guess that you can't change someone's gender."
"Thank God for that" Steve said.
"Steve, you're female" you said.
Steve ripples and in a split second he is a she. "I thought that you couldn't change someone's gender" he said.
"I can change anything" you said. "By the way, you're male."
At your words Steve changes back into his old self.
"Why didn't he change when you answered my question?" Jess asked with a puzzled look on her face.
"It's because I already saw a problem with answering questions" you said. "If I answered with something other than the truth, what I said would become the truth. I could inadvertently change history that way. So I made sure to put a limit on my gift. It doesn't apply to answers I give in response to a question."
"It's a scary thought that you could change the whole world if you didn't know the answer to a question" Andy said.
"That's why I placed the restriction on my power" you said. "I didn't want to accidentally change anything."
"Good thinking" Jess said. "So what are you going to do?"
"I'm going to have some fun" you said.
"Can we watch?" Steve asked.
"Sure" you said.
