"Okay. It's decided then: we'll track down whatever's doing this, and we'll put a stop to it!"
Steve's eyes burn with passion, and he pumps his fist with gusto. Clearly, he's excited to be playing the hero here, but you're not quite as enthusiastic as he is. All you want to do for starters is to just figure out what's causing this, and then you can decide what to do from there.
Once you're out of the house, you start looking wandering around the areas the two of you had been assaulted. Steve moves about like an untrained commando, darting his aim left and right every few seconds like he's under assault from all sides. He's definitely getting into the role, but after a few minutes without any sign of the wolf or the panther he starts to calm down, first moving a bit less erratically and then just strapping his water rifle to his back.
"Face it, we aren't-"
You pull him down into a nearby bush, forcing your hand over his mouth and pointing up ahead, where a large red rubber panther man is trodding along, glancing about as though to ensure that no one is following it. Luckily, it hasn't spotted you. Steve reaches back for his rifle, but you stop him before he can pull it out.
"We have to see where it goes," you whisper, and the two of you quietly follow it into the brush.
