"Well, what are we going to do first?" asked John.
"I'm hungry," said Carrie. "Let's go get something to eat!"
"Naw, let's look around a little first. We can build up an appetite that way."
"But I already have an appetite! Please, can we eat now?"
"Well let me see. You're short and I'm tall. Tall wins! We look around first!"
John jauntily walked out of the room while Carrie sighed. He was always pulling this "Tall wins" stuff on her, just because she was petite. She knew he didn't really
mean it, but she got tired of it sometimes.
She followed John out into the lobby and was about to go outside the hotel, when she glanced in the gift shop.
It couldn't be!, she thought. But she'd seen it enough to recognize it from one of John's favorite cartoons: Super-Gro Plant Food! Carrie dashed in, grabbed a
bottle of the food (which, she knew, worked on more than plants), paid for it, and then joined John outside, the bottle hidden in her purse.
"What took you so long?" asked John.
"I forgot something," said Carrie. "So, John, after we've looked around, do you promise to buy me a big dinner?"
"The biggest!"
"Promise?"
"As much as you can eat!"
"That's all I wanted to know," said Carrie, opening her purse.
