“Hello?” she shouted from downstairs. “Did I just hear a baby crying? Is that you Jim?”
Jim heard her walk up the stairs. He kept as quiet as he could.
“Mom and Dad dropped me off. They have to go shopping or something. So, I guess you’re in charge or whatever ‘till they get back.”
Standing there terrified at being found by her, he listened as her footsteps approached his room.
“Hey, can you hear me in there?” Judy asked as she came to his door. She must have thought he was listening to music on his headphones or something. Jim just stood there holding his breath, hoping she would go away. Judy was the last person he wanted to find him looking like this. She was a real brat to him when he was 12. He could only imagine how horrible she might be to him as a toddler.
She knocked on the door. “Hey, wake up!”
