Despite your situation, your inate curiousity gets the better of you and you follow the stripe labelled "Nanomechanics Lab." You're not entirely sure what you'll find, but maybe it has something to do with the serum that they tried to inject you with earlier. Maybe with a bit of that stuff, you'll be better able to exact a fitting revenge upon these green freaks.
The stripe ends at a rather imposing door, probably able to withstand the force of a small explosion. Surprisingly, it's equipped with a supermarket-style proximity sensor that obligingly opens it for you as you approach. Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth (and draw attention by coming all the way down an empty corridor only to turn back around), you enter.
What you find inside looks like something out of a sci-fi movie, and much of the equipment doesn't look all that environmentally friendly. Ecotopia my ass, you think to yourself. No different than any other environmentalists; just a bunch of hypocrites.
The lab is apparently empty at the moment.
Before continuing inside, you scan the ceiling for any security cameras. Sure enough, there's one positioned in the corner that with a clear view of most of the lab. Sticking close to the wall so as to stay out of the camera's arc, you sneak along until you're within reach. One firm yank later and the camera is out of commission, giving you free reign over the lab for the time being.
As you sort through the contents of the lab, you find yourself surprised at the remarkably lax security. Then again, these people never thought that anybody would be able to avoid being transformed.
Suddenly, your radio crackles to life. With a start, you glance around nervously before you have time to realize that you're completely alone in the lab.
"Unit three-oh-niner, you anywhere near the nano lab?" crackles the radio. Glancing at your chestplate, you notice the numbers '309' stamped on the left side. They must mean you. Steeling yourself, you pick up the radio.
Not too far off," you reply. "I'm persuing that escapee. Any word?"
"The security camera in the lab suite's gone offline," returns the operator. "We think the escapee might be in there."
"I'll take a look around."
"Be careful. This one's dangerous. This is our first successful escape attempt, so stay on your toes."
Well, you seem to have avoided arousing too much suspicion. You should habe enough time to dig up something useful about these green freaks and their plots. Then again, maybe it would be a good idea to get away from the lab before they decide to send reinforcements.
