CYOTF (Animal)

You won't roo the day

added by Rusty Raccoon 15 years ago A

A choice you had to make in less then a minute; a choice that would forever decide your form, lifestyle, way of thinking and very nature. You'd made the choice and had found yourself standing under a hot sun in a barren prairie like location.

You didn't want to believe it but having experienced an apparent teleport made denial all that much harder to maintain.

While you don't want to look down at the ground, you know you're not going to be able to deny the other aspect of what's happened to you.

You'd hit a button with a picture of a kangaroo. You see that your feet are now longer, covered in orange fur and have three toes, the middle one being far longer then the outer two. A look around to your backside shows a large lower body with a long thick tail attached to it. You're still somewhat bipedal but when hoping you know you'll be in a stance that's almost quadrupedal.

You've become a kangaroo. The idea is absurd yet here you are standing in what may or may not be the outback wearing nothing but fur!

You're not just a kangaroo, you're a naked kangaroo. Anger over the lack of clothing being another violation seemed petty in comparison to what else they've done to you. Though, you realize, they could have at least given you a vest or shirt! If they'd at least done that and let you keep your wallet you might have been able to identify yourself.

Oh well, you at least have hands and can still write. Unless they took that knowledge away. Knowing them, they probably did; bastards.

Your options seem limited to accepting this and just being a wild kangaroo or trying to find humans that can help you. It's an illusion of choice really. There are people back home that you know care about you and would be upset if you disappeared without a trace.

But, which way to go? How far are you from society?

Do you really want to go back?

You realize that it would easy to resign yourself to this form. There is a certain allure to it. To the best of your knowledge, no human has ever experienced this before. Would it be irresponsible to return to humanity so quickly? If you can change back, perhaps you realize, you should explore this form and experience what being a kangaroo really means; not just to have the form of a kangaroo but to live and think as one. It's not as though you asked for this. Making the best out of a bad situation hardly seems wrong.

On the other hand, would giving in, even for a few weeks or months be wrong? What of others that don't get a chance to change back? Is it fair to them if you do?

You realize that (for example) not seeking medical attention especially when treatment is available to you when you're ill is foolish. An attempt to justifying it by thinking that not everyone in the world gets access to medicine doesn't seem logical.

You weren't the one to condemn others trapped as animals (assuming they exist) just like your having access to medicine isn't why others don't have access to it.

You look around and then down at your body. This *is* your body (at least it is *now*).

Your lack of clothing while embarrassing and leaving you exposed is also oddly liberating. You won't have to worry about what you're going to wear the next day or of dress codes. What people see is what they get.

As perverse as it sounds, if you want to lick yourself, you know you can. Anyone that sees you will see you as a dumb animal that doesn't know any better. Even if they don't, it's not as though they can demand you stop.

Should you make your way to society and want something, you can hop into a store, take it and people wouldn't be able to do much. You're just a stupid animal that doesn't know what he's doing; it's not as though they can arrest you.

That thought sends shivers down your spine. How far will you take this? Yes, people can't hold you accountable for your actions but unlike an insane human that they'd lock up and at least try to help, they just might shoot you!

If you act like an animal and have no decency or morals by choice (as opposed to a creature that doesn't know any better), for all you knew, you'll be failing a test that determines where you’ll go when you die.

You aren't sure what to believe about what happens when you die but you didn’t want to end up in a terrible place if you can avoid it.

A primal anger forms within you. You didn’t chose to become this way, or more so, you didn’t chose to be in a situation where he’d have to chose to become a kangaroo!

You decide to drain this emotional energy by hopping. You don't care about the direction; you just want to get away from here.

And hop you do. You don’t know how you know how to do it, you just do.

After what feels like almost an hour of hopping, you are getting tried and have to slow down.

When you stop, you're close to a hill. You hear someone talking on the other side and wonder what the best course of action is.

What do you do now?
